We are at a very old Oriental Rug Manufacturing Plant in Bhadohi India. From hand selecting the spun rug fiber, to transporting the dyed wool fiber prior to being woven into a rug nothing much has changed in decades. Honoring centuries old traditions these Master rug craftsmen carry on the art of their Fathers. Most of these workers have many generations of rug artisans going before them. From Father to son these skills are being continually passed along to the next generations.
AREA RUGS
Area rugs from the Orient are generally less than full room size as we see in the first image. Although depending upon your desire we have larger full sized area rugs available as we see in the second picture below. These rugs may either be hand woven and knotted as shown below from the Bodia plant in India, or produced by more modern machine methods in other rug plants around the Middle East and India.

The District of Bhadohi India is the largest carpet and area rug manufacturing center in all of The Nation India. This area of the world is well known for its hand-knotted area rugs and carpeting. The Mirzapur-Bhadohi region is the largest handmade carpet weaving cluster, engaging around 3.2 million people in the industry. Bhadohi employs 22 lakh (lakh translates to 100,000) rural artisans. Carpet weaving by hand in the region dates back to the 16th century during the reign Akbar.The carpeting of the region received the Geographical Indication tag, which means carpets manufactured in nine districts of the region, Bhadohi, Mirzapur,Varanasi,Ghazipur, Sonebhadra,Kaushambi, Allahabad, Jaunpur and Chandauli would be tagged with `handmade carpet of Bhadohi`. Well known carpet types from Bhadohi include cotton Dhurry, Chhapra Mir carpets, Loribaft, Indo Gabbeh.
